Dato’ Rizalman Ibrahim is a famous fashion designer from Malaysia. He recently announced his resignation from the fashion and design industry during his ‘Kesuma Jiwa’ Fashion Show after being in the industry for more than 20 years. This show is one of his prized projects of 2020 as it was the closing show of his career as a fashion designer.
"If you look at Kesuma as a term itself, it refers to the interest, linked to a beautiful woman, so what I want to highlight at this stage is how beautiful the Malays are" said Dato' Rizalman, 49, commenting on the meaning behind Kesuma Jiwa.

“Kesuma Jiwa diharapkan dapat menyedarjan masyarakat bagaimana seni itu boleh menyatukan masyarakat” he says, which translates into how he believes that with Kesuma Jiwa, he wanted to educate the audience and public, how all arts can unite the society.
Dato’ Rizalman have collaborated with ZALORA for many years through his Modest wear collections during the Hari Raya period. Most of his collections feature a modern twist to the Traditional Malay dressing during Eid. In 2013, he used many different colours and textures for his collection, with a more Modern look for the Kurung, Jubahs and Kaftans. 2014 featured more body-hugging styles of the Baju Kurung while keeping the embellishments much simpler. In 2015, he decided to work with materials like Jersey, Laces, Crepes and Georgette silk.

For his 2016 collection with ZALORA, he played with prints and pattern with a fresh look to each outfits. 2017 was when he design elegant floral prints and lighter colours for his collection, with added lace, ruffles, pleats, puffs and even included Swarovski crystal embellishments to some. In 2018, he combined the Saree, Kurung, Kebaya into different styles which was inspired by the Bollywood scene. His 2019 collection was inspired by the British vintage culture where he played with patterns and designs bringing in the British feels through the Victorian cuts and floral prints.

His last collection, ‘Kesuma Jiwa’ followed the concept of going back to his roots. Malay silhouettes like Kebaya and Kurung were prominent in his designs.
