Updated: Apr 9, 2020

For this Spring/Summer 2020, the accessory that can be seen a lot on the runway are Belts. Whether it be Menswear, Couture or Ready-to-Wear, this trend is made to fit each category precisely for not only aesthetics, but to make an outfit stand out even more.

Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture

For Elie Saab’s Spring 2020 Couture collection, the colour that stood out was the shimmering gold, with intricately delicate touches of embroidery, pearls, florals and lace that made seem as if it came out of the 1600’s Baroque period. Different silhouettes and elements like capes, ruffles, bows, and sleeves with long trains were added to the fairytale-like effect on her dresses. The belts blended in with the glittering gold embroideries, some being more simple than others with it's gold buckle and white leather strap.

Sunnei Spring 2020 Menswear

For Sunnei's Spring Menswear collection, most belts had a crisp crinkling effect while others were more specified, the belts were tied around the waist unlike normal belts with buckles. This gives Sunnei a more clean, and a minimal utilitarian look to the whole collection.

Gabriele Colangelo Spring Ready-To-Wear 2020

Rope-like leather belts were the main focus for this trend for Gabriele Colangelo's collection. The whole collection were a mix of clean and modern cuts and styles that blended in with one another hence why the belts were made simply with thin leather rope-like pieces.

Alexander McQueen Spring Ready-To-Wear 2020

On the other side of the spectrum, McQueen created statement belts that were bold and thick with metal gold buckles. This made the whole collection come to life as each outfits that were put together, fit together beautifully. Intricate lace with leather and a statement belt, dresses with puffed sleeves accompanied by a similar belt, all the looks were carefully thought about creating a synchronised collection.

Agnona Spring Ready-To-Wear 2020

Agnona's trademark for this collection is the "looped around" belt. It can be seen in most of the outfits within this collection. With its oversized-shoulder jackets to the use of leather, cashmere and silks, This collection featured the best of the working outfits for those in the working world today.

Elie Tahari Spring Ready-To-Wear 2020

Feels like it was designed for busy working women, Elie Tahari's belt trends are almost fit for the everyday office-wear with the simple buckles, thin, regular and thick sized belts and both textured and untextured leather. Women who spends money on Elie Tahari items are women who although are focused on their job, they too, know how to have fun.
